Capsule Bio

Young Ran Jo joined the KLPGA in 2006. She got out to a rather slow start early, but by the end of the season was putting up good finishes. She ended the year with top tens in her final three events.

Jo made a big improvement, however, in 2007. She collected five top tens, but the biggest of these came at a huge event: she won the 5th and final KB Star tour event to collect 125,000,000 won first prize. Weirdly, she badly missed the cut in her final two events of the year; perhaps either burnout or injury is the explanation, as her final five rounds of the year were all in the 80s. Nonetheless, she finished 5th on the money list.

Jo had a more mediocre 2008 season, although early on she did manage two top five finishes in three weeks. In 2009, she only finished 27th on the money list, with just one top ten finish during the year.

2010 was slightly better for her: she finished 22nd on the money list with a second place finish at the LIG Classic her best result.

Jo finished 17th on the 2011 KLPGA money list. By far her best result came at the final event of the season, the ADT-CAPS. She wound up in a playoff with Ha Neul Kim, the top player on tour. Through 7 grueling holes they battled before Jo managed to put Kim away for the win.

Kim got her revenge on Jo in 2012: at the Rush and Cash Classic, they were battling it out for the title, but this time it was Kim who got the win and Jo who was disappointed. Jo had another runner-up finish in 2012 at the ADT-CAPS (in defense of her title). What's weird is that this event took place in Singapore, the first time a non-co-sanctioned KLPGA event had taken place outside of Korea. Despite playing thousands of miles away from the site of her previous ADT win, she still came close to repeating.

In all, Jo finished 16th on the money list for 2012, with 5 top tens including the two runner-up finishes. She had a far weaker 2013, finishing 47th on the money list with about 81 million won earned. She had three top tens, her best finish a 7th at the Nexen Saint Nine Masters.

In 2014, Jo finished 67th on the KLPGA money list and made about 50 million won. Her sole top ten of the year came early, at the LotteMart Open; she finished 6th. Starting in 2015, she has played on the KLPGA's developmental tour, the Dream Tour.
